Some good driver combination has now been overwritten with the latest and greatest, that isn't so great. My thinking that the culprit is the damned automatic Samsung updates that appear to go on. My pal says this used to work, but now doesn't. But anyway, the ethernet cable works first time so I'm less inclined to think its a XP networking problem, more a problem with the wireless card/driver. I have tried the "How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" thread from the Microsoft site on the NC10, but no change. Yet i can't ping it from other devices on my network. The ACU tool is sat here now showing 4 green bars and authenticated, but not "connected" or getting an IP address.īut when i log onto the linksys router and show the DHCP table, its showing that the NC10 has been given an IP address. When i look at ipconfig it says the Ethernet adapter is not connected, but there is never ANY sign of the wireless card as either being disconnected or connected and having an IP address. Strangely, the ACU tool says that i'm "authenticated" to the wireless network, but its not getting IP address back. (my wireless has been rock sold for about 2 years and this NC10 is the only thing i've never got working on it, and i've attached stacks of laptops etc when fixing peoples laptops) But both my iPod Touch and scraggy old laptop both connect on both. I have tried both WEP and WPA on my linksys, both to no avail. It will neither connect via the windows tool or the ACU tool. I have also tried driver versions 5.3.0.56 and 7.7.0.259 as recommended on various forums. I have installed the latest driver from the samsung download site (7.6.1.210) along with the Atheros client.
It just won't connect to either my Linksys or their Netgear. Having real problems resolving some wi-fi issues with my pals NC10. I cant imagine the pain my dad would have went through if he had bought this!! I'm an IT professional and it took me a couple of hours. I cannot believe that this is shipping in this condition. Many thanks to MarineBlue who originally posted this solution. Installed this and using the Atheros Client Utility connected to my network first time, unbelievable! Connected via Lan and tried the Samsung Update which did update the wireless drivers to 7.6.1.210 but this made no difference.Īs the samsung UK website does not list any drivers for the NC10 I went to the US site and downloaded the comlpete package (which includes the Atheros Client Utility). I have the SKY router, but I also tried with a neighbours belkin and my dad's netgear. NC10 detected my network but simple would not get past 'aquiring IP address'.
I have never had a single issue connecting to my wireless network, until now In my house I have 1 standalone PC, two laptops, PS3, Wii and an Iphone. Certainly glad I came across this thread.
